WASHINGTON—President Biden signaled support for changes to the legislative filibuster, said the U.S. was unlikely to meet a May deadline to withdraw troops from Afghanistan and defended his approach to the southern border in his first press conference since taking office.
In the hourlong session Thursday, Mr. Biden, 78, said he expects to run for reelection with Vice President Kamala Harris on the ticket.
The news conference came as Mr. Biden’s administration deals with a surge of migrants crossing the southern border and after mass shootings in Georgia and Colorado that have revived a debate about gun restrictions.
